Or maybe you are looking for the perfect winter playground to bring the kids, well look no further than Mount Selwyn in the Snowy Mountains. This snowfield is regarded as the best place to come to when you want to learn to ski or bring the kids to a really safe environment where they can learn ski and have a great time doing so.

Mount Selwyn is also renowned for being the most affordable and friendly ski field in the beautiful Kosciuszko National Park and lives by the motto “Friendly Family Fun”. The atmosphere on the mountain is perfect to make you feel right at home and completely relaxed as you learn to ski or practice your skills.

There are programs for children as young as 18 months old all the way through to adults who wish to learn. It doesn’t matter if you have never skied before, as the excellent staff at Mount Selwyn will have you up in no time at all. And with the gently progressive terrain you won’t have to worry about black diamond runs or steep downhill slopes to contend with! Here at Mount Selwyn most of the terrain is graded for beginners and intermediate skiers, with just a few slopes for the more advanced.

There isn’t just skiing and snowboarding to look forward to at Mount Selwyn either, there is the fantastic MILO Snow Sports School as well as on snow activities. Take your pick from snow shoeing, scenic chairlift rides, tobogganing, snow biking, cross country skiing, snow tubbing and so much more. The kids can be completely looked after in the care of the very professional and caring staff while you go and try your hand at some of the newly learnt skills that you now have.

When you come to Mount Selwyn an added bonus of spending your winter holiday here is that you won’t have to pay on-snow accommodation prices, as all of the accommodation is based within the nearby villages and towns  situated really closely. You will never be more than 30 minutes drive from the mountain and the best thing is, is that you can return to a luxury chalet, hotel room or holiday house with everything that you will need to feel at home and relaxed and not pay the earth for it.

Mount Selwyn is located just two hours out of Canberra making it a very easy drive! The main road is always serviced but you must carry your snow chains and fit them to your car when ever directed too. Parking is readily available when you travel to the Mount Selwyn ski fields, for you to park your car at so that you can enjoy as much time as you like in the snow and embarking on the many wonderful adventures and activities.

All of this skiing can really work up an appetite so why don’t you stop off at one of the restaurants or cafes on the mountain for a wonderful bite to eat. You may like to join some friends in the bar for a drink or two or even curl up around an open log fire.
