Looking for a city that never sleeps and has everything on its doorstep,  the Great Barrier Reef, pristine rainforests fringing the city limits, world class shopping, luxury accommodation, dining options galore and ample attractions with cruises, adventures and tours on top of it? Cairns is located in Far North Queensland, and is a wonderful central point from which to experience all the delights of tropical Queensland. It is famous for many things,  including attractions such as the world renowned Great Barrier Reef.  There are numerous ways  to experience this precious gem such as snorkelling, diving,  viewing the coral from a semi-submersible or taking a glass bottom boat trip out to the reef    Or perhaps you may wish to take a scenic flight over the reef in a helicopter or sea plane.

While holidaying in Cairns there is also the option to spend some time on the neighbouring islands, one of them being Green Island where you can laze on the beaches and see what island living is all about. With it spectacular coral cay you can look forward to amazing swimming and snorkelling in azure waters.

Many tour operators depart daily from Cairns with attractions  everyone will just love! Out to the  Great Barrier Reef  and islands, up over the rainforest canopy on  the Kuranda Skyrail and down through the rain forest on a steam train,  skydiving over Cairns and white water rafting in the Barron River.   A hot air balloon is always a fantastic way to cap off an already perfect day  drifting over the city and rainforest areas or maybe you might like to visit the Port Douglas, Palm Cove or Townsville. There are also sea kayaking tours, cycling tours and many other water sports for anyone that loves to get active and with scenic coffee plantations, wineries and plenty of farming communities in the area why not taste test some of the local cuisines.
