Lord Howe Island was designated a World Heritage site in 1982. Generated out of volcanic activity this group of islands have a spectacular topography with an abundance of rainforests, coral reefs, beaches, volcanic peaks and numerous endemic species, especially birds.
Lord Howe Island has plenty to offer both the energetic and those just wanting to relax. With activities to embark on such as cycling, bird watching, tennis, golf, bowls, fishing, sightseeing cruises, snorkeling, coral viewing, a range of adventure tours, mountain climbing, hiking, spa treatments and kayaking you will never be left wondering what to do next with your time.

Take a cruise around the island for the day or find a secluded beach where you can enjoy a delightful picnic with just the two of you, or maybe even just let the kids play in the playgrounds while you relax on the foreshore. The waters are pristine and perfect for year round swimming but with greenery behind you in the ever present beautiful mountains, why wouldn’t you want to wander along the pathways and hiking tracks to see what you can find.
The island is a paradise for bird watchers, fishermen, divers and walkers. There are luxuriant rain forests, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and the world’s southern most coral reef to explore which all add to the islands exotic appeal. There are over 490 species of fish, 90 species of coral and 130 species of birds that visit the island to see while you are here too!

To preserve this beautiful wilderness on Lord Howe Island there is only a small number of people, of around 280 people, who are fortunate enough to be able to call this paradise their home! And with numbers being restricted to the island all throughout the year it is always advised to start planning early as many people are just dying to travel to this perfect oasis. Known as “The Last Paradise” Lord Howe Island offers the locals and visitors the ideal place to relax and unwind, and a place where you can completely forget about the outside world.
Lore Howe Island is an island still untouched from large developments and with the locals wishing to keep it this way you can be sure that your holiday will be slow paced, relax and rejuvenating and without the hassle of cars and too many people to contend with.
