New South Wales, AustraliaNew South Wales is one of Australia's premier tourist destinations. Sydney is the capital city and the most popular destinations within the state. Since the Olympics of the year 2000 Sydney has become one of Australia's most sought after destinations. Sydney is also famous for its opera house set on the shores of the fabulous Sydney harbour, the wonderful Taronga park zoo which is only a ferry ride from the centre of the city and also the spectacular Sydney harbour bridge which is the largest of its type in the world. Climbing the arch of the bridge is extremely popular with tourists and regular escorted tours are conducted. Sydney and New South Wales are famous for their beaches and along the coast are many popular seaside resort towns. North from Sydney such towns as Gosford, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Yamba, Byron Bay, Kingscliff and Tweed Heads are the most popular. On the South coast the most popular destinations are Woolongong, Kiama, Nowra, Ulladulla, Batemans Bay, Moruya, Narooma, Merimbula and Eden. Valley. Located just north of Sydney and just inland from Newcastle this
area is world famous for the quality of its wine production. There is
a myriad of wineries to choose from and wine tasting, great restaurants
and relaxation are the order of the day. Some of Australia's most famous
vineyards are located within the Hunter Valley. The Blue Mountains is
another destination close to Sydney. The town of Katoomba is famous for
its magnificent mountain scenery and the old world charm of its luxury
hotels. It is a delightful destination for a weekend away and is also
quite close to the fabulous Janolan Caves. |
